Winter Magic

The days are getting shorter. The chill in the air starts biting at the tip of your nose signaling that winter is here. Witnessing these changes I am reminded how much beauty there is in each season. Winter asks us to go deeper inward. To reflect and to rest. Inevitably we slow down and conserve our energy. In Australia, the winters are short and sharp. The darkness is often balanced out with clear morning skies. Cobalt blue and warm sun shine before the southerly blows in. I am reminded how special it is to have this clarity above me. Like a lizard seeking out the heat, I sit in the sun’s rays. I feel both the cold and the heat at the same time.

On the morning of the Winter Solstice, 21 June, 2025, there was so much magic in the air. A thick fog greeting me as the new light of day attempted to shine through. Driving to the Blue Mountains for the Winter Magic Festival felt like driving in the mists of Avalon. There was Dragon energy all around me. I had the pleasure of experiencing the Ephemera Choir at the Cultural Centre in Katoomba. Their songs pulled at my heart strings. “Nothing stays the same, everything always changes” was the chant that opened me up in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. An important reminder in this age we are living in. There is so much chaos and disturbance to the flow of life. As many homelands are disrupted by conflict and war, the feeling of helplessness was beginning to over shadow me. In this moment I was reminded that nothing stays the same. In order to channel the peace I want to see in the world around me, I need to become the peace within and express that in all particles of my being. Nothing stays the same. The only constant is change. This song gave me a stillness and a clam that carried me through the rest of the festival.

Arriving just in time for the sunset across the Blue Mountains’ iconic Three Sisters. A golden light spread across the horizon. Embedding this sacred site with the fire of the setting sun. I looked down into the gully. I could feel the Dragon energies swooping. They bring the age of peace we so desperately need. Winter magic indeed all around me.

It is easy to forget that we live in a multi-dimensional realm. Perhaps we don’t even perceive it as we go about the density that can be our lived experience. However, in key moments in our calendar the veils between the realms are thin. The winter solstice is one such time that reveals the hidden treasures in nature. Paying attention is the key to unlock all the magic around us.

I invite you all to take a moment and set your attention to the beauty around you. To quiet the heart and know that all of existence is temporary. Nothing stays the same. Like a magic trick, one minute you are here and then you are not. Like grains of sand, so we live out our lives. Bring joy into your lived moments and pay attention, for you are the miracle of stardust. Embodiment of the divine creator energy flows through you. Allow this winter magic to brighten and lighten your loads. Nothing stays the same for very long.
